Dietz Wrote:Dear Crazy....
As always many thanks for your continuing efforts! May I ask if there is going to be a new patch or download to make it possible to use these new add-ons...or are they in some way automatic with the last updates?
I'm trying to get to convert all my Ju-87G missions ti Hs-129s and not finding it possible....

Hi Dietz,

All the new stuff I mentioned in the previous post will come with the next update. Should only be a few weeks away now I think.

Hi guys, just a quick update to let you all know that in addition to making "AI cockpit mods" user definable I have also implemented a feature that allows the user to define any additional flyable aircraft to add into the Mission Mate mix.

This feature will allow the user to add any flyable aircraft of their choosing and has been primarily designed to accommodate new flyable aircraft that are not available with an auto installer or are in the beta stage of development. Of course this will also allow users to add flyable aircraft that have been officially released with an auto installer that I have not formally included for what ever reason. Big Grin

This whole process is managed by two simple text files that Mission Mate looks for while loading. The first I have developed an interface for that will generate and manage the "AI cockpit mod" aircraft listings, it is also this file that any additional aircraft listings may be manually added to by the user, this list is additional to the Mission Mate hard-coded aircraft list.

The second is an accompanying aircraft load-out text file for each aircraft. This load out file will be the master load out file, that is to say that it will have priority over the hard coded listings present. This file however is totally the responsibility of the user to create and maintain. Mission Mate will of course use a hard coded default load out if you are not sure about how to construct one of your own and it is found to be absent when you select that particular aircraft, so that your mission wont $hit itself because of the load out spec.

This whole process sounds very simple and some of you may be wondering why MM was not setup this way from the beginning. The reason was simply to keep user functionality as trouble free as possible and of course there really wasn't the need to have this flexibility in the past.

Ok it's back to getting the installation & setup ready.

Hi CrazySchmidt,

I've used your previous versions of MM with IL-2:FB and Aces and just found the new version for 1946 (v5.0. I have downloaded and istalled the files but I'm having trouble getting the missions to play or start from the MM menu. The "Launch" button is greyed out.

When I try to launch a demo mission and hit the "create mission" button I get a window that pops up with a "Runtime error '76':path not found".

I've even opened the sim and went to the single missions, countries NN and could not find a Mission Mate folder.

I'd really like to get theis new version to work but it's no joy right now.

any help is appreciated. I've really enjoyed your previous versions of MM.

Hi Lateral-G,

The launch button gets disabled (greyed out) if MM cannot find the "il2fb.exe" file in the IL-2 directory specified at the time of MM's installation.
To check the location that MM is currently using, open the "FBPath.txt" file located in the MM installation folder, the default entries will look like this:

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 Mod\
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 Mod\Missions\Single\NN\Mission Mate\
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 Mod\Missions\Net\coop\Mission Mate\
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 Mod\PaintSchemes\Skins\

The top line shows the root of the IL-2 game folder. Check that this is correct for your current IL-2 MOD folder location. If it is incorrect simply re-type the correct location into each line and save the file. This should solve your problem.

This has become a common problem for MM users since the introduction of the MOD's as users are starting to run more that one version of IL-2 and often the IL-2 version that was in use when MM was installed, is no longer the desired version. The next release of MM handles is problem by allowing the user to redirect MM to any IL-2 version installed on your PC. This can be done by a new button on the main start up window on MM (inside yellow rectangle) as shown in the screen shot below:

I hope this helps.

CS,

Thanks. I was able to get a mission saved to the NONE folder.

However, I wasn't able to launch the game from the MM screen. The launch button is still greyed out. I could launch the sim manually from it's shortcut and the mission was there and flyable. I just could not launch from the MM screen.

My FBPath.txt looks like this:

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Missions\Single\NN\Mission Mate\
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Missions\Net\coop\Mission Mate\
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Skins\

In my main IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 folder { C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS}
The MODS folder is where all the new aircraft reside. I cannot find the new aircraft in MM's plane list.

How do I get MM to find the new aircraft (i.e. F9FP, XF-86, MIG-15, etc.)

Ok, if I understand your reply correctly, your FBPath file does not hold the correct path info to your game folder which you have stated as being "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS".
If you add \MODS to each line at the end of the \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 section so that is reads \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS, you should be ok.

As for the new planes you have mentioned, I have not yet included those particular aircraft. Please note though, that I am only formally including mod aircraft into MM that use a self installer, those aircraft do not. In the next release of MM however, I have implemented a new feature that will allow you to add any mod aircraft of your choosing and will no longer require my input on any level.

Mr CrazySchmidt

Being a long time user of your program, have to say that this time it is something really special, so my congratulations to you for such a fine Job.

However I have this problem: when I click the quick launch icon in my desktop, a message warns me that the Ardennes map is missing

In the main MM screen, everything appears normal afterward, but ..... There are no Maps, not a single one! :???:

I uninstalled all previous versions, and this version altogether, and reinstalled the new one to different folders (once where IL2 is, and twice in another location in the same hard disk, but nothing: no Maps. However The JPG's Maps are there in the MM folder.

The NN folder is in single mission folder ant the Net folder, where they are supposed to be, and inside of each are the Mission Mate sub-folders.

What am I doing wrong?

P.S. I have two IL2 installations, one in my System folder, which I seldom use, and the functional one with all mods an MM plus in a different partition of the same Hard Disk, and MM Setup points first to the System location, which I change in the MM setup window.

BIG QUESTION!?
Do we uninstall all previous versions before installing this great utility??

Crazy Schmitt- After setup , when I try to install the second part of MM I get this message:
This has happened not only on this latest install but every time I've installed updates...I'm not sure what it means , but am pretty sure its not good...Forgive me I may have asked this before but what should I do?

That error message is displayed when MM is launched but can't find the FBPath.txt file, which should be located in the MM program folder. It is the file that holds the path info to your copy of IL-2. Without that info MM cannot interact with IL-2 correctly.

From your screen shot, it seems as if you are attempting to run MM from a temp download folder, which is not a good idea. The installation process should be as follows.
1. Extract the contents of the zip file onto you desktop or another location on your PC.
2. Run the setup exe and choose an installation location for MM.
3. Launch MM. The first time it loads after installation, MM will ask you to point to your chosen IL-2 program folder and it is this info that is written into the FBPath.txt file which is located in the main MM program folder.
That should be all you need to get running.

Also, it is not necessary to uninstall any previous version of MM because each new version is a complete install and is always installed into a new version folder, however I personally would always uninstall any previous version just to keep everything nice and clean.

Let me know how you get on.

I posted this in your announcements thread as well. Hope you will see it here.

Thanks for this great update,

--- but

When I select "Add New Mod Aircraft" I get an error message then MM crashes.
Run time error 374. Failed to activate control 'VB_Usercontrol'

Is it looking for air.ini in root/files/com/maddox/il2/objects ?

My air.ini is in root/MODS/STD/com/maddox/il2/objects
