Official 4.09 Coming soon

The MODed IL-2 is almost perfect for me. Back to fly the sim with worst sounds, worst cockpits, worst maps, without SkinMOD or Avala planeshine etc etc etc etc etc etc is unthinkable for me

This is great news, especially as this now opens the door for all completed mods to ( in time ) be "officially" incorporated. Win-win ! Big Grin

Also, I'm perfectly happy with my modded il2 now, and I don't think I'll dare to risk it for a new patch.

As stated in the interview, the patch will not prevent mods to work.
well i for one will be making a complete copy of my game before installing any new patch from 1c.......................just incase

i could not stand losing any of the work that has been created here for the sake of an " official " patch that might, just might stop the mods working. deception lays everywhere and maybe the statement that mods will still work is just so everyone installs it

Or copy your MODS folder to documents, uninstall Il2, clean 4.08, then 4.09(official), then UI 1.2, and then your MODS back Tongue or would that be a dumb plan?? Tongue

It wont be that easy... simply because of different content of, for example, the various ini files.

Why not have both the 4.09 and mods? UI includes 4.09beta does it not? 8)

409 beta is different from the 409 official, it has different content.

as for this UI stuff, i have built up my mods folder using 093 since 2007, and i have not got the UI. dont want it either to be honest, everything works fine for me as it is and with the manual installs, one can make the game as one wants it, Big Grin Big Grin

You know I just had a thought:
for the longest time we had 4,09 beta. Then lots of hints, rumours as to when it would be finally out.

Then more time passed and some assumed that 4,09 would never materialize, but it was 'vapourware.'

Now as it comes out, it's got loads more then people expected, with this new wrinkle of even more add-ons and content, where none was originally planned (or announced).

Here's my point: how much of this would have happened had not MODS become so big? I am of the opinion that if there were no MOD community, that the 4.09 final might have possibly been released sooner (than this,) but would have less content.

Either way I am seeing the 4,09 final as all good Big Grin

This is my first post here and i would like to thank all here at AAA who have dedicated there skills to make this the best flight sim!! Saying that i think we should all thank Oleg and his team for this game and all patches and addons they have made. I bought this game the day it was released and to see how far its come along has been ALOT of fun for me. As far as the mods i look forward to adding them to the 4.09 version.I like to manual install mods and i have to say ALL the mods look incredible on my pc!!! Thank you AAA Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

I can imagine Oleg isn't all that mad at the modders. A lot of people have been dragged back to IL2 because of the new content, resulting in more sales of a dying game.

This is of course my uneducated guess.

There's different ways to view this. The mods got people hyped about the game and has made more people play it or get back to playing it. With this is mind, they might have wanted to continue supporting the game to make it as good as possible. However, if the mods hadn't been done I feel that the game would have less players so oleg might have decided to discontinue support for the game and focus entirely on SoW. It's all food for thought...

I for one am one of those people. Had it not been for the mods I would have no reason to buy 1946 and would have just stayed with the 4.04m version being an offline only flyer. There is no way I'm alone in that and I have to believe that Oleg realizes this, hence his softened stance on the mods.
