Then on Fridays and Saturdays there are races every week (you participate on one of the days only, depending on which time is best for you). Password to the Air Racing server is also shown on that site. The server can be found on hyperlobby all week. Normally the official race map is up by wednesday giving racers time to practice or you can just jump in on saturday and have fun Smile Up to 20 racers normally for each track. 6 races per track every weekend. Saturday is 6pm GMT (London). Very fun and for the more professional racers very technical Wink
Hey! Thanks for the tip! I'll check that site out.

Oh I forgot to write it in so I'll edit the post again but you need to turn mods off to join the server CRT=2. Unedited UI1.1 should get through but no other modded games. If you find you don't get through with an unmodified UI1.1 then you must turn mods off. (This is due to cheating issues etc... a few more hp for your engine and you could get much further ahead of everyone else, little bits really count in racing) Also you must spawn with empty loadout otherwise you will be issued warning points and without around 20 seconds you will be kicked (possible timeban i don't know) This is so people do not shoot in races, a problem we've had occurring in the past.

Do you mean a track? Will send it, but hope you'll have a different style of videomaking, or people will bore the same sequences. In any case you have room for improvement, so we flew races without mods and I recorded it with no mods. By using the common cam mods and some video effects you can easily do a better video, I assume it; I'm more focused on other projects and got no time to work more on this video, just decided to launch as it was... Smile

Yes i mean the record of the map Big Grin Send me all that you got i want to try something Big Grin

Hey, that sounds very interesting!

Will look for this if I have time, and I'll also comment it to my race mates. See ya there! Smile

Is there any video preview of the tracks?

Well there aren't really previews, you just have to go and fly them. Some of the footage that I saw on your video i thought was actually from the Air_Racing server lol so it's basically the same as the races you've done. There are like 40 tracks or so made by around 10 different people i'd say, different track each week, some1 random just picks the track and planes, 6 planes per week and then we race Smile

The whole project of Air Racing has been run since around version 1.22 or something maybe 2.04 or whatever it was but yeah it's been around for a very long time so things are pretty good.

Hehe, I've just registered there (with number 57; 5 for my combat and 7 for aerobatic numbers), will look to race this saturday if there are free slots. I've seen there are lots of downloadable skins, tracks, race scenarios, and all needed.

Good thing to read the rules when registering, there I've seen the start procedure you use is very similar if not equal that ours, but we have differencies in penalties. We race in AVA since 3 years ago, when we started to make official competitions under Catalan Aviation Federation (that's just a region of Spain and it's not extended to all regions, but at least it's as official as a real aviation championship here in Barcelona). Races are one of the competition modalities in the Virtual Championship of Catalonia, which is physically made on LAN in Barcelona. This means there are official judges controlling nobody uses external views after takeoff. The tension and nerves lived in a LAN championship... it can't be described! Tongue

I also observe on the tracks that you use to race in a restricted style, everyone in the same plane. I've always wanted to try this, since we are more focused on unlimited category (mono engined piston planes, free chose of own plane).

I may have not racing skins for all planes, there's a way to know what plane will be used before the race so I can prepare a skin?

This will be very interesting Wink

All the information u need to know about server password and upcoming races are here: http://www.simairracing.com/?page=racing/racetimes.html

Yes we race the same plane mostly, sometimes we do open race for one of them which basically means a Mustang MkIII race with a few people in Tempests and Fw190D9s and possibly Do-335s. Depends on the track mainly but the Mustang MkIII is the fastest so most people use that, you get some people who think a Spitfire will be fastest and they use that etc... but yeah most races are one plane. Also crazy races such as B25 or He-111 around a course maybe 1 lap less. Skins are on for racing now, there used to be a lag problem so skins used to be off. Rules are pretty simple, they look more complicated than they are but u should pick it up very quickly. See you on race day Wink

Curious, no I-185 there? Even Mustang III is fastest, if there are a bit of turns, the Polikarpov beats any plane... Mustang needs very straight race to achieve its maximum speed...

On unlimited races with free plane selection I find there are groups of pilots, the I-185 ahead, and just behind a mix of Mustangs, La-7, and Yak-3 Vk-107, depending on pilot skills.

Sometimes I've seen rarely Spitfire, P-63, Tempest and Bf-109G-2 on very tight turn races. They are capable to leave behind any plane just after the start of the race, but only by short time.

One day, one guy went to race with a Gladiator (expecting the rest of the pilots to crash in a new race totally unknown), we all laughed, but at the end, all crashed except one La-7 and the Gladiator, there was an intense moment when the La-7 ran out on fuel, arrived to runway gliding, and had to retain energy to cross the finish line at the end of the runway Wink Had the La-7 crashed or not arrived to finish line and a Gladiator would won all! Smile

Another question, I read on Simairracing rules that the recommended fuel is 25%. That mean very short time of flight in some planes, barely enough to fly at 110% with WEP enabled and radiator closed... When engine management really counts is on races that lasts from 15 to 30 minutes, when 50 to 100% is needed, and fuel to load is another parameter to take into account and decide, also if there are changes of altitude on the race... A dive with more weight, more speed, more cool air for the engine...

Well, interesting anyway, I've always wanted to race against others all in the same planes... error margins must be minimum and pilot really counts! Smile

Yeah the 25% recommendation is go on as low fuel as u can manage basically which involves testing. It's always 25 or 50% fuel you'll never use over 50. On some planes that extra fuel makes no difference pretty much and others can really make a difference. I find it interesting what you say about the I-185 but in general I think our courses don't have enough sequential tight turns to make it count. There are turns that are tight and interesting but if you fly a nice line the Mustang should always be the fastest. Oh and about every little bit counts using the same plane, the cooling of the engines are timed to the second for the top racers. They also run the track in reverse to see when the last time they need to cool is so if you see someone slowing down in the lead it's a good idea to start cooling your engine. Or you can time it with a stopwatch like me.

Hi,... nice concept, Raptor, I've been having a look at some tracks... they're really much more straight than ours, not
a surprise that the Mustang MkIII is the choice.

Just as an example... this one of ours, in Guadalcanal map, following the river most of the time. At the beginning of
testing, people complained all the time that it was "impossible" to race... some of them even used flaps to avoid stalls
in some very very tight corners... but later on they changed their minds...

I'll have a deep look at your races, thanks!

~S~ That looks fun to fly, I guess the way they do it at Sim Air Racing is a more technical way which is less challenging to complete but requires correct lines and plane management whereas yours is more try and survive whilst going as fast as you can lol. There are quite often times when only a few of us finish races anyway so I guess both types of racing are demanding in different ways.

Oh and when do you guys next race on for example one of those tracks? I'd like to join if that's okay Smile

No problem, everybody is welcome to have some laughs with us.... perhaps it's not a good time
( Mondays 22.00 GMT +1 ), we usually have two races each day.... finishing at about 23.30.

You can PM me if you want to join and I will give you the TS and Server details...

S!
