Well, the planes on that video are Texans and not Zeros Big Grin.

The scenes are nicely done anyway...Never go Dogfighting a Zero ... specially in an F14 Confusedhock: ...

I actually watched the movie as a kid, and I did cheer on for the Japanese - they fought on in a completely unfair battle! Tongue

Seriously, look at how the F-14 is struggling to stay in the air with such low airspeed. It's truly the best USA Navy fighter, imho, it joost looks great. Big Grin

yeah ans all, but the issue is that the A6M FM is all wrong, it has slightly too much power and not enough of a roll rate, i wondered if this can be sorted for new slot planes ?

I watched the video again and those are not Texans. In fact, I remember seeing and interview about this movie not long after it came out (I was an 18 year old new Airman in the USAF) and those zeros (Yes Zeros) were owned and flown by the then Confederate Air Force. In fact, the scene where the F-14 does a barrel roll and makes that big dive?.... was unscripted. The pilot almost lost control of his acft and very nearly crashed.

Sorry, but those zeke's are rebuild texan planes, period (I will eat my old hat, if I'm wrong). They are leftovers from the Tora, tora, tora movie (the attack on Pearl Harbor - 1976).

I really think the guncam footage was running slightly fast. Not just because of how the camera plane was flying, but because of how all the planes just seemed a little bit "off".

the cam footage is not running fast, it is in fact the zero's that turn fast, il2 does not in any way at all represent just how good these planes are at rolling and turning. if you see the zero's in the film clip, you will see that they roll very fast indeed, and there are loads more clips of zero's in action, they are extreme in their turning ability, unlike the ones in game that take forever to respond.

watch this, it explains how good the zero was.

To folks who really want to examine this footage, be sure to mute audio off. That fabricated/dubbed engine sound is out of sync and skews perception of speed. It feels much slower without the bogus audio (especially the end of the clip with the smoker).

I reckon people think that there is no way a zero can manoeuvre that fast lol....... but here is the thing, that is exactly what the american pilots said when they went up against it, got into a turnfight with it and got shot down, from being on its six i might add.

Is this a joke?

Saburo Sakai what real data are you using? These films?

Unless you give us real data to back you up......

Remember that IL2 runs on physics not on personal remarks or american movies using american planes with alot of makeover.

As stated before they are not Zeros, just look at the wing geometry.
