+1
The reason why we have LOMAC is to get modern planes into it and not in the Il-2.

Cheers for the comments guys, glad to see you reckon I'm doing my job properly!
I do completely agree with the general sentiment here, it takes the same amount of effort to be polite and tactful as it does to be rude and tactless, and the atmosphere of the forum can alter easily depending on which route we amble down. I appreciate some of the request we get can be rather daft and all, but do keep in mind that there are no rules saying people can't ask.
As for where this sim will go, I'm not a modder myself so I would hate to be quoted as the authority on such things, but as I understand it, things stand like this: the game is magnificent but the engine's limitations mean that the realistic cut-off is the 50's for aircraft because the complexity of avionics and whatnot would outgrow the game engine. As well as that, we're still affected by the world which I believe's altitude limit before things go all weird is lower than the altitude that many more modern aircraft can achieve. And then of course there's the issue of speed. Although that said, Wolf and PeterD [apologies to others who helped but I don't know about] fixed that, you can now break mach 1, so perhaps given time, who knows?
Me I'd love to see an English Electric Lightning or a Panavia Tornado. But this sim isn't the place for them. On the other hand, from what I hear, the SoW engine could well cater for all...
Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.
Well, I guess if someone wants to build the DC-2 then there is no reason why they shouldn't, but it does seem like quite a lot of work for a relatively unimportant aircraft, at least if it was built from scratch, so maybe someone could do something with fankenplane techniques and the DC3 model?
S~
Have you all been paying attention to the 4.10m update they're working on... guided missles, guided bombs, Radio beakons and the like, I bet when they come out the mod scene will open up to more mods, and down the road, I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the early vietnam jets hit modsville.. BTW Mog, if no one has told you......nice signature!! LOL

Course I've heard of the updates, so yes, i'm aware the boundaries are being pushed as to what can be done, though i wonder if the boundaries would be able to be pushed as far as that. Course it'd be great if they could.

Some of you may remember EAW? Do you remember what the next evolution of that sim was after a few new features were written in? I would put money on that IL-2 will evolve the same way.
If someone wants to build anything and is willing to put in the time and effort, I say go for it!
i think it would be cool to have a hercules on ild
of quarse to please all the rude people that are insulting this man about a simple idea whoever makes this
could make .50 cal mounts like rear gunner and side gunners and mabie a waist gunner
and mabie able to drop bombs out of the back
theres nothing wrong with a little modern mixed in with IL2
its just somethin different and cool

You would get bored to it after killing hopeless ground units, fighters and bombers for a week.
