[WIP] Map Hankow - update with Corrections

cgagan Wrote:Thanks for the answer; I did find that mod, it is Fisneaky's transport mod; I installed it, added relevant lines to static.ini but no results; the universal static.ini checker informs me that all objects are there; I shall continue searching...
When some beautiful map will not want to work because of the fact that there is a silly object, such as a bicycle or camel with the head turned to the east or west, I just create an empty object with the correct name and does not bother my head looking for the original product ...

ps. Dear cartographers! Please do not do "extra" objects! Or let two actors.static one regular and one which would contain the minimum necessary information ....

cgagan Wrote:Back again; the message I get from the shift&Tab combination is "Cannot load Buildings/46/Warehouse_cargo". Strange thing is - as I already said - that the univ. static.ini checker finds no missing objects from the map. I had a look at Canon's objects again, but could not find that particular "46Warehouse-cargo" (I found the 46/Warehouse that I already have in my static.ini). Does it ring any bells, anybody? Thanks again,

I found some entries under:

FISneaky Houses of 46
Searched the entire forum, all Fisneaky's threads, could not find it; presumably it comes with a pack?

I did a search on my install and it's part of the HSFX static.ini:

[buildings.House$46Warehouse_cargo]
Title 46Warehouse_cargo
MeshLive 3do/Buildings/46/Warehouse_cargo/live.sim
MeshDead 3do/Buildings/46/Warehouse_cargo/dead.sim
AlignToLand 0
Body WoodMiddle
Panzer 0.01

And it looks like this:

Thanks for the tip; I have that object already; I added your lines to my static.ini, no result. I have now reverted to the earlier version of the map which works fine.

I don't know if this will lead to a possible solution: I reloaded the map and got the message "bad water, map rid". This was also a problem with Waggel's excellent NorthSea map, which he has tackled, according to his latest post. If you map making geniouses are in touch, perhaps you could ask him for a clue concerning the "maprid" thing? I shall also post this request at his thread, many thanks,

Hmmm .... I still can't load the North Sea map yet either ... no, I mean it loads, but it won't save and fly ...

I've never had that map error before though.

I still need to go through the actors and weed out some entries ... but its a huge one, 3mb and more and that is soooo many lines ...

And besides, I really don't like the cultivated fields as they are and would like to retexturize those as well ... I think there will be a major rehaul for this map needed ...

Can wait as long as it takes. Your previous version (fully flyable rto me) is a joy to my eyes! 8)

Just had a thought. I know that in the new updated actors, a new spur railroad line was included in Hankow, a historical rail line. Anyway, it was made by using objects that are from a mod that I think is called 'Kevin's Road/Rail Plates' or something that sounds like that.

It's included in UP2.0 in any case since i know i did not have to re-install it with my flyable game.

Since you don't have UP2.0 or HSFX I suggest you check out if you have this mod ...

I also have this MOD for Kevin's road/rail plates and I also added some of these to my BurmaLower map (which might cause some people problems).

My Hankow problem is still with the above mentioned cargo objects (I guess).
I wonder if using the OUT/IN BUILDINGS TOOL BY DELVPIER could solve everyone's problems???
I have not used this tool but it seems like you can replace particular objects with a different one of your choosing.
If the above mentioned cargo objects are the problem then this tool can easily fix it.

Thank you, Agracier. I have the impression I have that mod; I shall check later tonight when i am back home. In any case, the Burmalower map is fully flyable to me, which is further proof that I have that particular mod installed. Any news on the "map rid" thing?
Cheers,

I tried this tool once and shame on me perhaps, but I could not get it to work ... any hints, tips or suggestions?

Confirmation of above post; I do have that mod, so that's not the cause of my problem

It's a pity to be unable to fly your maps Agracier even though it's possible to open it on fmb , they look very nice :-? .

I have an idea. Agracier could you please provide us a "mission" for this map, i mean since you can fly this one, you create a "mission" file with a plane/ single player, whatever the model...and just save it. then you upload the .mis file to us.

i'm shure people having the same problem than mine (ok to open the map in fmb but unable to save + nothing wrong with static checker, no missing object) could use this .mis file to launch the map. in a mission and maybe who knows we will understand why for static checker all is ok but we still can't save a mission :???: .

i have the feeling that if i have an existing .mis file i could resave it on my pc and make it flyable...same for the other guys having that problem. you see what i mean ? because as the map open well on fmb it can't be a problem of missing object. i guess it's a problem of different version of a same object...

i have this problem with hankow, australia and formosa. i haven't tested you chaco and bulgaria maps. aleoutian map is ok no problem with that one.

Now that's an idea ... here are a bunch of missions that I have ...

I'm curious to see if it works ...

Thank you Redko for the idea, and Agracier for providing the missions pack; unfortunately, I still face the same problem: The missions load but I cannot play/save/edit them. The shift & tab thing gives me the same verdict: Bad water if MapRID = = 0 Have a nice weekend all,
