cgagan Wrote:Thank you Redko for the idea, and Agracier for providing the missions pack; unfortunately, I still face the same problem: The missions load but I cannot play/save/edit them. The shift & tab thing gives me the same verdict: Bad water if MapRID = = 0 Have a nice weekend all,

Yep, same answer than walter solito...search button gives me this :

" Yeah the map needs a Map_R.tga. Grab one from another map and the error should go away"
viewtopic.php?t=9119&highlight=water+maprid

i don't have this message, but i guess it depends of the rig you have cgagan, not all pc and CG seems to need that file. it seems that you can take a map_r.tga from another map having this and put it into hankow folder.

maybe Agracier could make us this map...i never tried this myself but it seems easy to do.

but this doesn't solve hour problem of pseudo missing object... :???:

ok this all this is becoming more and more strange...and i would say paranormal

i tried again, i erased the actor's map to prevent a mysterious missing "thing"...same thing, the map launch on fmb but no way to save and play. :???: .

thanks for the missions Agracier but what i want to test is a mission with only one single stock plane, no objectives, just 2 checkpoints for free flight, and most of all no added objects (excepted those being part of the map actor).

just the map and one plane, a stock one to make shure that any mod is interfering on the test. could some one having no problem for saving missions updload us this ? Thanks guys.

Here's a single plane mission:

But you know, why not just take the older, only slightly smaller old actors from the first version and use that? It only contains a few buildings in Hankow and a railroad spur outside the city and a few minor odds and ends ... you can extract the actors from this link:

You truly won't be missing much in the way of objects by using the older actors file. Of course, copy ONLY the actors from this download ... and backup your actors just in case ...

A map without an actors file containing at least one airfield and an object or 2, will never save and fly ... for some reason there always has to be an airfield and an object embedded in a map if it is to save and fly ... don't know why that is so, but that's the way it works ....

Hi again, thank you Walter and Redko, this thread was suggested to Waggel whose North Sea map causes the same problem; I copy/pasted a map Rtga file from another map but the problem with editing/saving FMB missions persists; I shall try Agracier's possible solution with the older actors.static and return later.

There is really paranormal activity on your map agracier hahahhahaha  .

So this time it worked, i can fly the map but i still can't save. i'll test the old actor just in case....

When I launch your other missions i get somtimes the error message "b-534 missing". Search function tells me that it's a plane included on 4.09 official patch and sas mod, so i guess your maps are made under up2.0 or hsfx packs. Any people who don't have these packs may have this problem, they will be able to play your map by downloading existing missions/campains but not create and save their ones untill we don't find how to solve this problem of "missing object". They will not be able to save compains progession too.

And actor checker will not help us for that, if i don't mistake it compares actors with the official AAA static.ini so all coming from other packs will not be detected. i suggest you to work your map under standard AAA mods it will be easier for all the people here. Having a missing plane it's not a problem, we just install the mod and that's all. But having problems with actors objects and a blinded actor checker is more complicated

about the map on it self, thanks mate  . it's a nice one and good for varied scenarios Big Grin . maybe the textures are too clear, i could make some for you if you want. this map is made for paddies textures. and some tree map textures would fit perfect here  . There is a BIG potential here Smile

Agracier, you would be very gentle to upload us a "one single plane mission" for Formosa and Australia map too, i have the same problem there, impossible to save a mission but ok to open the map on fmb.

No...map_R is for that problem : "Bad water if MapRID = = 0" error message. According to Maraz you can take a map_R on a map and use it on another one:

For our problem for saving missions it does nothing Sad . But Just download the last single plane mission Agracier posted, put it on you single mission folder. don't try to open the mission on fmb, just go to single mission and launch it. you will be able to fly the map...but not to save or change the mission.

I mean for the moment untill we find a solution

I think I ultimately rushed this map out prematurely. I've also been trying out some other textures, especially for cultivated fields and paddies and such, but I'm not really pleased with the results. It looks more or less OK at dawn or dusk with hazy/poor settings, but anything brighter just doesn't do it ..

So yes, if you have some good textures, please do make/send them. I also made some tree textures, to outline fields, but that is something I just got working a few days ago ...

Here's an idea. This .mis file contains the updated objects that were put into the old actors file, the actors that most members here can fly and save, and added into the new updated actors, the one that gives some members problems. This file contains the updated objects that were not in the old actors, but are now in new actors.

http://www.mediafire.com/?zrzm4mzmyky

This file should contain the guilty objects. It opens with any text editor ... maybe someone can figure out which of the objects contained in the file is causing the problem ... once identified, I can delete all entries and make a new actors ...

I've gone through this mis file myself of course, but since I can fly and save, there is nothing I can compare it with ...

@redko: no, the static ini checker compares the actors.static with your static.ini (I've tested it on my SAS install). BTW I have the same problem than you with this map :-?

yea but the problem is static checker says there no missing object. there a complet actor static with the checker, if i replace my static by this one, supposed to be the most complet one i gives me the same thing, no missing object. i can fly the map, but no save it which is completly illogical.

that's why i'm shure the problem comes from the pack used by agracier to create the map or maybe his method consisting in make a copy/past a pack of object from other maps. some of these objects may have been moded compared to AAA standards so the game under AAA standards can't save missions....

Agracier, i just tried to open the map under unlocked fmb to resave the actor according to my mods, it saved without problem, but changes nothing concerning the problem of saving mission. i had the idea that maybe resaving the map on my rig it could rewrite the actor and solve the problem...but not.

I will take a look to your last file.

Ok what mods are you using? 4.091bm only? UI 1.0 + UI 1.2? UP 2.0? HSFX? people having that problem seems to don't use packs like Cgagan and me...

Hi again, tried with the old actors.static file and it works. I can save/edit missions. I shall now add Agracier's add-on file. Gentlemen, this is one of the most helpful IL2 gatherings I have known! Thank you all, particularly our map making artist! 8)

I don't use any pack, but a heavily modded SAS mod activated game. What I mean is that I have made a test with the Catalunya map which contains new objects not included in the standard AAA static.ini AFAIK: I removed one of these objects from my static.ini and the static ini checker reported it.
