Rise of Flight Limitations

Ah cool thanks for the info!

That is the impression I got from the guys I was flying with online but just wanted to make sure

Well than your the only one! Wink

And I am not the only one experancing the problem I discribed..

CamelJock Wrote:Using 1920x1080 res or above, you should see normal viewing distance.
Im using 3840x1024 and I am seeing 'normal' viewind distances..

The problem is RoF's normal viewing distances are not normal! Wink

And to be clear I am not talking about the resolution..

Im talking about the distance at which planes first appear..

CamelJock Wrote:I can see enemy planes well enough in time to turn and decide my attack plan.
I allready stated RoF is a great shoot em up WWI sim..

But due to the planes not apearing as 'dots' a farther distances you can not apply realistic WWI SA tatics..

CamelJock Wrote:This sim was not designed for low res, low power machines. I run it at 1920x1200, and at all max settings.
Agreed 100%

And you should consider getting a better machine in that the 1920x1200 res is not good enough to fully enjoy RoF IMHO

CamelJock Wrote:You need to use trackir, and I wouldn't suggest less than trackir5 for it. You need the fast response.
I got TIR5 with fast responce..

Sadly having or not having TIR does not affect the distance at which planes first appear

CamelJock Wrote:As for zoom, yes, it can help a newbie learn how to find an ememy at first, but you will wean yourself off zoom after awhile.
This only proves my point..

The fact that you have to ZOOM to make planes appear is what is wrong with the sim

CamelJock Wrote:You did not have binoculars to see planes, you only had eyes.
Bingo!

Thanks for proving my point!

CamelJock Wrote:I am running this full time now with my AB1 squad until CK comes out. Come fly with us! We hope to fly both.
Roger will do!

Your loss not mine!

RoF is a great sim..

It aint perfect but it is the best WWI sim I have seen in years..

Graphics wise it is the best looking sim I have ever seen..

If they fix the distance at which planes appear I will be spending alot more time flying RoF than I am now

Well Me?

Im Still waiting for CK to come out,

Happy Flying,

Let hope you don't 'Go West' As they used to say back in The First world War,

Well you should see if you can find someone with a copy of it for you to check out..

Because passing judgement on something you have never tried is not the best way to do it IMHO..

RoF is a very cool flight sim in many ways..

Not just eye candy wise..

But engine managment wise for example..

You have to constantly set/check your fuel mixtures and you have to watch the RPMs or you can over rev an engine and damage it..

The sounds are also top notch as are the damage models..

Before you close the book on RoF you should at least go to thier website and check out the links to the youtube videos.

Iron Cross Edition any good? As I really want to fly the Dr.I and can you change / choose your own skin before a mission e.g in the QMB
