SOB, they don't. Or I'd better say: they did wor a while. On my fisrt installation for the primary PC I had UP2.0, the cinema FX worked, but NOT like in your wonderful previews.

this is your preview pic for engine fire and smoke

this is my result, very different. poor smoke, looks less dense and oily, and the flames are uncomparable to yours.... why?

Today I tried to use the UP updater, I did a perfect job, now I am under UP 2.1 (or 2.01, I never remember) and.... no more Special FX!!! The smoke looks absolutely stock, sob.

My structure is jsgmemods/00_Mid air smoke/Files/3DO/...
I then activated your Mod with JSGME, as usual.
I have NO Uranium or plutonium Activated.

Please help, I want that mod working the right way, it's too cool.

fixed...
I erased the effects collection from the jsgmemods folder, then I created a MODS folder (dont ask me how, but the UPDATE from 2.0 to 2.01 erased my previous MODS folder... well it was empty anyway)

then I put the WHOLE little effects in the MODS folder. Now the smoke and fire look exactely like Socorrista's examples. I don't know where I got the inspiration, don't know what I did, but hey now it works

Hey, Conte Zero, great news!

You are good!

Remember to make back-up copies of both your JSGME and MODS folders for safe keeping. There will be a bunch of very valued mods in them.

Well done Conte. Actually, the smoke looks quite nice in that picture you posted Big Grin You must have had a texture issue as far as I can see Wink

Hi Smile

The problem you had Conte is that at first, you have installed the new version of this smoke effect
02[Image: midairsmoke.jpg]
that I created for those who like a less dense smoke. There are two links: DOWNLOAD and DOWNLOAD NEW, you should have installed the old version to have the dense smoke Tongue

Remeber this, when you use the uploader, all your jsmgemods and mods folders, will be modified automatically. Before update, do that Fireskull sais, make backups of your personal mods.

PD: your second picture is very nice for my taste Big Grin

Yes, actually now that I give it a second sight, my first smoke version was not so bad. But your "old" version looks cooler to me, that thick and greasy smoke recalls the old rare colour pics of huge fires at war. I guess both versions have their highlights, and both confirm your great work.

And you're right, the first time I only downloaded FX number 2, new version. The second time I downloaded the whole pack, with older smoke version. That's good since now I also have the crashed planes crater and smoke, wich are very beautiful too.

Skull, I am not good at all  actually I am in total panic any time it comes to put my hands through the mod activator and the folders. I guess I just love to fly, but I am quite unable to get technical and understand all the features of the game and the engine.
will remember your advices about backups!

One last question for socorrista, please.

If you look at the picture, sometimes there are little smoke tails that look made with the original Oleg's smoke (see it from the right motor of that bomber) is it normal? It would be cool to eliminate them or replace them with some magic, since the stock effects now look sooooo old compared to your effects.

Generally, I make copy of any folder or file that I intend to change and put the copy on my desktop.

If I am really going to do massive risky things, then I work on a copy of the entire folder or sometimes the whole IL-2!

excuse me, if i may, could i please request a mod taht causes the fuselodge to catch fire and sputter out? (what i mean is with larger shells such as 20mm have a fire explode then disipate similar to HE shells?) if you cannot find the time for this then i understand.

Yes it´s normal, this default smokes are modded by the fantastic Plutonium effects, install them (it´s very simple) and you will be much more happy, follow the instructions in my original post to do both effects pack compatible.

The Queen's English needed to begin interpretation from English into Spanish:

Frogman2 Wrote:Excuse me, if I may. Could I please request a mod that causes the fuselage to catch fire and sputter as it extinguishes? (What i mean is, with larger shells such as 20mm, have a fire explode and dissipate similar to HE - High Explosive - shells?) If you cannot find the time for this, then I understand.
