I would like to see drop tanks exploding when you are shooting at it... We don't have this in IL2 but we can see it in many historical guncam. More over I'm a big fan of the Korean MOD with the complex engine management, the possibility to release your belt before bailing out... I hope it will be done in SOW ;o)
Ted
In IL-2, the dynamic cmpaigns were poorly programmed, meaning the flight paths were unrealistic (flying dierctly over a heavily defended enemy airfield on the way to a target or into a mountainside), plus in many cases when your airfield was attacked, the # of enemies was too great and your force was too small, faulty, unreliable AI, and unrealisic robustness models. Missions often got intensely repetitive. This often involved having to modify the mission via the FMB which required lots of patience and time.
Some of these negatives are 'realistic', but that doesn't make the game enjoyable. The original purpose of a flight sim was that you could escape reality and become an immortal, funloving, trigger-happy young chap flying around in the plane of his choice. The point of an entertainment product is to have fun, not to get driven away by repetitive missions.
Also, I really didn't have the time or patience to create my own campaigns, plus many of the included ones were very difficult adn 'un-fun'.
If there is to be a dynamic campaign in SoW, put lots of care and attention to detail into it to make it a LOT more enjoyable than IL-2.
Please include:
-The Spit Mk.Ib (2x20mm cannon, 4x.303s)
-Refueling and rearming stops
-MUCH better AI
-Include the Dewoitine D.520 and a a france campaign
Will there be an autopilot as in Il-2? for offline and long flights?

Blasph-Mossquitty Wrote:caldrail Wrote:Blasph-Mossquitty Wrote:-Funny and diverse comments from AI pilots concerning your various actions in Midair, just don't make them [too] profane. Also make them class-specific, like when you shoot down a bomber, they might say "That there got the fat flyin' maggot!", or when you shoot down a fighter, "He's taken that up, the bloody control twitcher!"
That certainly wouldn't be realistic for the RAF. They were very strict on RT behaviour, and told their pilots to keep quiet unless necessary. The Polish volunteers of course completely ignored that and jabbered away in Polish, much to everyone elses annoyance. In real life, in combat, there's a lot to think about. Flying at WW2 speeds doesn't leave much time to think and I doubt many people would actually spout the sort of inane comments you suggest - these are disciplined military personnel in a potentially lethal situation. Many are simply scared, others completely out of their depth. Few are as flippant as you would like. What they mutter to themselves in the cockpit is one thing. Broadcasting it is another.
Indeed you're correct.
It's really because, as we all know, the Brits have NO sense of humor.....
Except for Benny Hill that is.....

In addition to the suggestions I made before, this just hit me like a ton of bricks!!!!
We need the game to pull maps on the fly!!!!!
ie.
You'd be able to fly from England to Germany without having to make 4 different missions. Game engine would pull in map data as you fly from point A to point B like every other quality flight sim in the world does.
I'd like to see more interaction between AI and player, meaning that after a while of flying a joke or two comes up, or (in the case of bombers and some fighters) music from nearby radio stations is picked up.
