A few revs back, the AI did not have the current 140m minimum alt they now have. I could actually trick B-25s (AI) to skip bomb, for example.
Way back, you used to be able to set 2 waypoints for some planes ON THE GROUND, then reset the speeds to 0 and they would actually remain parked where you placed them in game. This allowed you to place planes (AI) on the tarmac, and when strafed, they were damaged like other "real" planes. FAR more interesting than strafing the static planes.
Could some features like this be brought back from the dead?
If you have the map making tools.... you can place the 'Ground' symbol from the 'Runaway' section (the long red arrow which curves up)...anywhere..... and pointing in any direction... 8)
but the plane doesn't spawn where the icon is placed..... but one kilometre behind it.........so.....
the pink cross is where the plane will spawn...facing east
and again...the cross in the hanger....
of course...only of use to human pilots who know how to taxi....an AI will just take-off and crash.....you still need proper landing points to come down on the strip...but useful in single missions/campaigns....or co-ops...
in co-ops you can stop the AI from moving by starting with no fuel....so they will bail...but human pilots will be told to fuel up in the briefing
I'm interested in getting into the scene here. I think what's been done at this site has greatly improved IL2's gameplay. Is there a tutorial for newbs?
I have experience modding other games, but I expect this is slightly different.
hiya ive been trying to figure out how to construct the PBN turret positions & ive thought we may be able to use the TB3 front gun position by placing a 360 single gun turret onto the front of the PBN - but what im really keen to work out is the side guns. What could we use for side guns on the PBN ? remember we can use any turret position from any aircraft.
just wondering if it'd be possible to make a new Mk IX to replace the in game Mk IXc and IXc (CW) with the more historically correct Mk V tail, instead of the later war tail from the Mk VIII, which didn't get introduced to the Mk IX series until the Mk XVI came out in 44. this isn't a big deal for the IXe's, but playing some of the DCG campaigns earlier in the war like mid-1943, this is definitely not a historically accurate tail for the IX. if someone could put that together, that'd be super and i'd count myself one very happy historical aircraft lover, lol. cheers!
In Jane's WWII Fighters, when planes are set to T/O, they line-up on the taxi way, start engines and taxi onto the runway. Would that type of mod be possible with IL2? Just a thought.
Wingman and pilot voices cant be heard , Im flying a P47 USAAF.
Whats the fix for this?
I installed the sound mod yesterday and love it
Also can we have overcast grey sky?
