I foresee great online fun with a map like that and not just a dedicated campaign. It wouldn't be so bad and useless. I mean we've got the grand canyon ffs.

if someone could help me with making a map and buildings i could try and place them everywhere even if it would take me weeks Smile

Weeks? You must be kidding. Populating takes months if you want to do even a halfway decent job on maps with large and dense urban areas. Maybe you could do it in the span of weeks, but I doubt without going absolutely bonkers in the meantime ... ha ha.

And then add some extra months into the equation for making buildings from scratch. And on top of that there are so few members here who can create 3D objects to begin with, far less than can make maps.

Yep and then some 2-3 month a decent texture work....just to reach the actual level.....

just a to hard/big/impossible job to make xD

It would be a very big job, most especially for a first exercise in map making.

But if you have the urge to make maps, why not try out something simple at first? Desert areas and arid countries are always easier to do due to sparse habitation. They look nice too and have an attraction to one's romantic side perhaps, but the populating is easier by far.

And I've been asking this before, but I have a number of basic maps finished, textured and all, but still needing populating. If you'd like to try out populating, you or anyone else for that matter are free to give it a try.

Here are a few that you could choose from:

Formosa / Iraq / Bulgaria-Turkey / Spain - Galicia / Spain - Madrid-Jarama / Korea North / Korea Pusan Perimeter / Java West / Norway - Narvik / Palestine / Suez Canal /

i would love to try it out!
any new progs need to be installed for that??

Good day Big Grin Tongue
Interesting. I heard it was the damage model that was....well you know....a little too uber-resistant? That also was the first time the .50cal issue came up IIRC.

If you wish to try populating a map, the best way to go about it is to install the map making version of Il-2 so that you can not only place objects one by one as in the normal game in FMB, but in the map-maker you can also copy/paste groups of objects much as in other windows programs and you can also do so between maps ...

That is really all you'd need in the way of programs ...

I don't have it at hand right here, but you should be able to find out how to install a map-maker version of Il-2 here on the forum. It's not hard at all to do. You can alter an existing install, but it's really best to make a separate version of the game for map-making.
