I have to say that I'd be totally fine with, and would love to see a program that would allow servers to control who flies.

I'd go farther, it would be neat if such an app could be configured to install required mods for you. You log in to a server, and it DLs the map mod you need, or at least points you at it when it boots you.

My personal interest is in fixing stuff that has perennially been broken with PF. That means maps, and niggling little details (as it turns out many of the things I asked for in this regard are literally trivial to fix if you have the right files (getting at the stuff with no clue is rather harder than someone who already knows what to look for)).

At some point I could see AAA "blessing" a few super mods that would be a new acceptable online environment. No FM changes at all might be one, and limited, but vetted changes for another (I could see fixing many loadouts on planes solely by DELETING some, for example).

Anyway, if someone has the skill to do this, it'd be a great thing.

I think the vast majority of people I see posting here would agree with that.

Was over at simHQ & some one was asking about how to enable Check Runtime 2 and he got a reply telling him how to do it but all so that CRT=2 had bin bypassed by the cheats/hackers, is this true & is that what I saw in AAA the other night?

Without reading this whole thread (in which some postings are beyond the horizon of good behaviour), I just want to say, I like the idea of a 'mod' that controles the mods. This would make modding able to be offcially accepted for online gaming. Till now I only use it offline. And also I'm in a squad that denies modding for online play, although it would be very usefull in our wonderfull selfcreated events.

IMHO such a thing is more important than deleting the Fw190 bar or editing the Tempest headrest.

Acutally that was just my question...

I am new to mods (i dont even have one installed - i dont have enough disc space for a second IL2 installation  so actually i was looking for this switcher i heardt about), because till now i was sceptical (i admit i am still a little sceptical Wink) and didn

Cheats where here long before the mod and they will be here well after. The only way to keep people from cheating online is good admins

I agree. I was talking to Monguse yesterday. It would be nice to have a mod that server admins could control which mods were allowed. That would give some sort of control for online play.

Thats what i mean... I think these guys trying to cheat themselves will always find a way, whatever, i dont care much about that anymore...

But server could end up using 20 different mods and you never know which mod to install or the other players use. So some kind of "ModCheck" would help to keep some standards and also to allow only player on the same server, which are using the same mods. So i guess at the end of the day the "mod pack" with the most realistic feeling, will become standard on the Full-Real Servers, and this would really be a great enrichment of online gameplay...

Most of the 'making sure everyong has the SAME mods' is actually irrelevant - what IS relevent, is making sure CERTAIN mods are detected, and denyed.

I believe this is still in the works.

I agree with Magpie. As has been said numerous times before all the mods do is make various cosmetic fixes to the game (yes, thats all a "new" aircraft is. No FM or DM change, therefore no advantage).

I also disagree with Caspar about a "mod that auto downloads mods". Apart from severely pissing off all those "anti-modders" out there and bringing even more division to the IL2 community, thats also the sort of thing that a lot of popular online FPS games do. If I join a server I want to join the fray ASAP, and not have to wait for ~50mb of mods to d/l to my hard drive. I stopped playing on numerous Red Orchestra servers for exactly that reason.

Having an option to add mods via DL seems like a good thing. Maps, for example. I also tend to be in the camp of wanting the ability to have the same mods as another option, not just banning certain mods. That and/or the ability to say that ONLY a certain list of mods is acceptable, ie: AAA vetted mods, for example.

Just saying that such an application can have options, and that would be good, IMO.

I totally agree to a Anti Cheat or Selected Mods Mod for host in online games

Maybe so there is a chance we offliners cant get things like the weapons mod without the onliners have to fear to beeing betrayed in some way
