im starting this thread off because its important people get there facts right before posting
Bearcat Wrote:Uther Wrote:Bearcat Wrote:Spits with K-14s?Well late model Spits had giro sights BC,but I think we might be on a slippery slope now.
Yes thats my point... You know I really really hope that someone can figure out how to make correct cockpits for the AI flyables... You all know my opinions on the mods.. but it doesnt have to spell the end of the sim... I guess much of that depends on you guys and how well you try to stick to accuracy across the board... AFAIC if CFS can get AVSIM then I see no reason why this sim cant have a similarly dedicated crew, almost rabidly obsessed with getting it right. Since as I have said on so may occasions.. the horse is out of the barn...
Bearcat chk your facts
Quote:The P-51D/K introduced the K-14 computing gyro gunsight, based on a British (Ferranti) design
The brits were using the gyro gunsight before in spit ix's before the us used them
we have our information correct - if you read what i put underneath the mod you would see the proof so no slippery slope here
we only want to produce mods for 4.08 which are historically correct which this is!
we are doing a mod which should have been done origianlly in the game - we have in fact corrected it
this was not a feild mod , it was factory fitted!!
read the information provided in the mod text!

Hi all this going to be my first post so dont bash me
Ok it has beem long time since i play this game almost since PF came out 2 years ago more or less and back them it was not possible to had new planes but has someone post a new plane Walrus and there are new mods to fly AI planes with cockpits and so,them is it possible now to had new planes :?: because since this game came out i think there are some planes missing on german side that is because they are some of my favorit ones and they are:
A night fighter.
He 219 UHU
And a long range bomber.
He 177 Greif
And about the AI planes since almost all planes are fly by persones have anyone made a Me-323 so he also be fly by persones :?:
That is all for now 8) .
After the bombing of Smolensk, everyone on base was eager to know how much damage the bombers did to the bolsheviks factory's. Some new recruits arived last night, I was in need of a new flight, so the decision was made to kill three birds with one stone. I was given the command of the rookies and was to get them in the air imidiatlly with a recon flight to Smolensk.
These guys had just come from fighter school so I wasn't expecting great things from them. We lined up on the runway an at about 0800 hours the order to take off was given.
After take off I circled around the base a few times to give the recruits time to form up. Once they were in the air we then headed in the direction of Smolensk. I ordered the flight to form a right echoln formation, wich they did beautiully. I was very impressed. They held the formation right up untill we reached Smolensk.
The bombers had last night targeted the factory complexes & the fires were still burning bright this morning. The smoke an flames could be seen for smole miles away. As we got nearer to the bombed out factory complex the radio was full of awes an gasps. This is the first time these guys had seen the destructive power war has, it proberly won't be the last time either. Factorys were now gutted out shells still ablaze. A bridge carrying a rail line to Smolensk station was destroyed in the attack also, ''at least that will hopefully stop a majority of arms getting into the city'' I thought to myself.
Observing the damage done to the factorys I caught sight of something moving over to my left. It was out old friend the I-16. I shouted to the flight that theere was an enemy fighter an the group broke formation an climbed. The I-16 tried climbing for me, I performed a loop an ended up on the hunting end of things. The enemy went down in a steep dive to try an evade me. I followed him down, my engine meanwhile howling as I opened the throttle fully. I gave a quick glance behind. The new recruits were doing very well. My wingman was behind me following my moves while Osaka 3 & 4 were covering high above. The I-16 had pulled out of the dive now an tried to get away in a climbing turn to the right. I closed on him quicklly an fired my guns. machine gun an cannon rounds slammed into his plane. The I-16 then blew up in front of my aircraft. I couldnt turn away in time so I had to fly through the debris. Luckilly my plane didn't suffer any damage.
When I emerged from the fireball the recruts filled with radio with whoops, well dones an the odd ''one more bolshevik down''. I told them I was very impressed with the way they handeld the situation, what they did was not something the average rookie would do. The flight formed up then we continued our observation of the bombed out factorys. Again I caight the sight of something moving in a northwards direction. I kept high an closed in on it. It turned out to be an I-153. he hadnt seen us at all, he was proberlly busy doing what we were doing. Observing the damage that had been done. I told the flight of my plan: ''Osaka flight, we are going to take this one by suprise. Osaka 2 you stay on my tail an engage him if I get in to a turn fight with him. Osaka 3 & 4, stay high and observe what's going on. If things go in favour for our friend, dive down on him. Ok, lets go.'' Osaka 3 and 4 climbed whilst me and my wingman dived down on the un-suspecting victim. The enemy grew bigger an bigger in my sights, I had my finger on the trigger ready to fire when the enemy threw his plane to the left in the tightist turn ive ever seen a bi-plane perform. Blast it! The only thing I could do was use the speed I had gained out of the dive to climb. I did so whilst performing a turn to the left. He was directlly below an to my left, I dived down on him. He put his plane in a climb. As I dived down I fired a couple of shots at him an observed some hitting his wing. I looped my plane over an was onto his six in a few short seconds. I was in a firing position an just as I pressed the trigger, he rolled away to the right. Crafty basterd! As I turned my plane around I saw Osaka 3 & 4 dive down on him. They fired off a few shots but none hit. I had managed to latch onto him once more, he tried all sorts of moves to try unstick me. We went into a climbing scissors wich unstuck me an gave him the perfect chance to shoot. He fired off a few shots that passed very close to my plane.
The enemy had now latched onto me. I treid a few tight low level turns with the assistance of lowering my flaps a little, but to no avale. That I-153 was still there behind me. I decided the best cause of action would be to try outrun him. I brought my plane level an put it in a shallow dive to try gain speed. bullets started to whizz just above the cockpit of my plane, I put my aircraft into a steeper dive an turned away to the left. Behind me I saw the enemy still there on my tail when my wingman latched onto the Russian an fired at him. He broke away in a rolling dive to the right. I turned my plane round to get back onto him, he was now making a climbing right turn, going after Osaka 2. I got in close an fired all three guns at him. I saw a cannon round hit quite close to the cockpit. The enemy plane then became un-responsive, it dived down towards the earth an crashed on a riverbank. The cannon round must have killed the pilot. I called the flight to re-group in formation. Circiling above the crash site I called into ground control to tell them the success of the mission. I led the flight onto the vector for home. Stranglly not a word was said during the flight.
It was only when we were landing that Osaka 3 spoke up. ''Good kills Osaka 1''. Once we were all down on the ground we retreted back to the crew room to celebrate the victorys of the day with the new Osaka flight.
I have taken the names files for the aircraft and put the REAL Names and Nicknames NExt to it plus the company who Build the plane in the list so when you See a enemy aircraft now it has its full name!
To install just drop into your I18n folder with in side your Files folder
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=24PM10QA
Names will only be changed in the hanger Menu i would like to have them show in the Tags for aircat if some one could show me what i need to do
so when your flying and a plane is near it says its full name ! not just somthing like P51 or Spitfire etc

Who wants to tile this sucker?
There is still lots to do, but its working!
The Ta-152C and Ta-183 are fitted with this lead computing gunsight. Oleg and his team however were unable to find enough info in these, so as they are in the game they function as regular reflector sights.
Seeing the latest development with the late Spit models being fitted with the Feranti gunsight, I was wondering if a modification could be made to some of the late war german machines so that their 'decorative' gyro sight could be made functional.
I haven't found any pictures of this sight turned on, but maybe with some research this can happen.
Here are some photos of the german gyro sights for your pleasure. Note the wingspan indications of allied aircraft, similar to the practise used on it's allied counterpart.
Today we were given the task of something a bit diffrent. It made a change from the usual monotonos recon flights an figter sweeps wich normally didn't produce much action.
At 1800 hours I took off with my wingman, Osaka 2, and we recived our objective in-flight whilst circiling the airfield.
''Osaka flight, this is ground control. Do you red me?''
We both called in. ''Osaka flight, reading you loud an clear.''
''Good. Tonight, our bombers will be bombing the city of Smolensk. However, recon flights indicate the city has barrage balloons up to combat the threat of bombing raids. You are to bring down all of these balloons so our bombers have a clear path over the city. Head on vector 060 for Smolensk. Good luck Osaka flight.''
We both turned onto the vector of 060 an began our evening flight to Smolensk. The sun was already just above the horizon and the land was starting to get dark when we took off. Osaka 2 formed up behind an just a little below my plane. The mechanics were able to repair his plane in time for this mission. They had also given it a clean. We climbed above the scattered clouds continuing on our way. The weather was much more pleasent than what it was yesterday.
As we neared the city of Smolensk, we could allready see the balloons, little black dots in the sky. The balloons were higher than we were so we climbed up & started to begin the attack. Oskak 2's voice came over the radio.
''Ha ha, this is just like target practice.''
I replied back. ''It is, but don't let your gaurd down. Watch for fighters an AA fire''.
I drew my aircraft level with one of the balloons then gave it a very quick burst of my machine guns. Almost as soon as the first bullet hit it, the balloon turned into a fireball an remaind that way for what seemed an eternaty but was only half a second. The burning remains then dropped back down to earth. ''That's one down'' Osaka 2 said over the radio. I watched him as he gave one of the balloons a very quick machine gun burst then pulled up an to the left of the burning remains. By now we had attracted anti-aircraft fire. The sky started to fill with blak smoke from the flak guns.
The attack was going well. We were managing to destroy many of the balloons. After turning round to engage another balloon, I sighted something turning in my direction. Enemy fighter! At almost the same time I had sighted it, Osaka 2 came over the radio ''Osaka 1, watch you're back, enemy fighter at your 9 o clock.'' I pulled my plane into a tight turn before he could get round on me. For a few miniutes we continued this turn battle. I saw Osaka 2 dive from above on the enemy plane. His dive attack forced the enemy to weve a bit, loosng a little pace in the turn fight. It was now that I was able to see what I was up against. An I-16.
Osaka 2's dive on the I-16 gave me a little bit of time. I brought my plane level & began to loop. The I-16 followed but could not catch up to me. I opened my flaps a little so I could loop more tighter. With every loop I was getting more an more into a favourable position over my oppenent.
With another loop I came into a fireing position on the enemy. I fired off a small machine gun salvo at him wich passed just over his plane. His imidate reaction was a roll. He then brough the plane level an began turning to the right in a slow curve. I fired at him again with no success. My oppenant had started to slow down an was loosing speed. That's the worst thing about the pesky Rata's. Then can hold quite a low speed, even in a turn. I had a job keeping my plane in the turn, it was allready shuddering under the strain as it was. I bought the nose of my plane up a little an fired with everything with both cannon an machine guns. My plane shoock an bounced as the cannon & machine guns fired. The I-16 then began a roll to the left. One of my cannon rounds burst on his left wing, sheering it clean off of the aircraft. I watched as the crippled aircraft dived for the snow covered ground below in a tremendous spin. I saw the pilot bale out an then the crash as the aircraft connected with the earth.
After the fight we both circled the crash site a few times then scanned the sky for anymore trouble. We then continued on with the destruction of the balloons. The flak was now quite intense, the falk crews must have seen their fighter pilot comrade get shot down. I felt quite thankfull we only had a few balloons left to destroy. Once all the balloons were down we headed away from Smolensk to the south-west, all the while raising an lowering our altitude to try an avoid the flak. aa few miniutes later we were clear of the falk range, thank god. I radiod back to base:
''Osaka 1 to ground control, Osaka 1 to ground control. All barrage balloons have been destroyed as well as one enemy fighter.
''Ground control to Osaka 1, well done. Our bomber pilots will be pleased to hear that. Turn to vector 210 and return to base.''
We put our planes on that course an began out peaceful flight back to the airfield. Osaka 2 drew close to my plane an broke radio silence.
''Whew. That was fun. Some good gunnery practice that.''
I laughed an continued the flight in the darkening sky.
Before we got over our airfield we decided we would buzz both dispersal areas. We got our aircraft very low an zoomed over both areas. It made me laugh to see the mechanics running out of the hanger to see us passing just above their heads. The damiler-benz engine you can hear rumbling, purring away from inside the cockpit, imagen what it sounded like for the mechanics, a 109 passing just above the heads, throttle wide open. We then tured our planes round to start the landing run. As I turened I bled off mych of the speed i was carrying, an so lowered my flaps an landing gear. I watched Osaka 2 make the same move, which ended in disaster. In the turn he bled off too much speed. His left wing rolled over in a stall an his plane went down into the woods below creating a huge fireball.
I dont remember taxing my plane to the dispersal area, but I do remember sitting in the cockpit, just after switching the engine off, thinking about the events that had just happend before having to make my report out of the destruction of the barrage balloons, the destruction of one enemy fighter, an the lose of a wingman. Sleep well my friend, the war is over for you.
..........in ze Mission Forum, folks
Hi. I did what I show you a long time ago. I posted this on few forums. Some may like it some not it is a matter of preference. I mostly was playing with changed colors. Sorry I used pics from this forum, I don't have my copy of PF now, and even not have hardware to play it. I paste original shot found in this forum, and then edited by me. All images have only color change on curve level, and all ale with same setting. It is very easy to do so on your graphic card, I used photoshop here. Enjoy and comments and questions are welcome .
On most of the maps all airfields have the same texture around the runways, parking places etc. One can actually vary the texture, the simplest example: all grass airfields on a map with a certain texture, and all concrete airfields with a different texture. For example the texture around concrete airfields (read busy airfields)doesn't need to be a grass texture, I'm working a bit on Stalingrad and replaced the grass texture around Pitomnik airfield (it's a concrete airfield) with some airfield texture found on the New desert map, it fits quite well i think. There are 4 "slots" for pluging airfield textures
airfield0, arfield1, airfield2 and airfield3.
Usually only one is used, so in principle you can use the others too, need to repaint of course those airfields in the right color but that's pretty easy. I think it adds some flavour to maps...
