Probably wishfull thinking but what are the chances of making coop functionality work in a DF server?
More specifically the ability to have carrier groups moving on a plotted course in a DF sever.
Why worry every month about paying for this site. Donations will never be steady enough to justify the aggravation of constantly asking. Just charge to belong and if people don't pay--oh well--just close the site. IMHO
I've been experimenting with reskinning objects, trying to get something that resembles the Chain Home radar towers that Britain had during the war.
Bearing in mind this is still very WIP, I thought I'd post some pics showing what I've got so far. By reskinning a factory chimney, I've got the transmitter aerials. They need a little cleaning up but I think they're quite effective.
I want to also make the receiver aerials and for that I need 'cross-frames'. I tried reskinning the little radar station object so that only the frame was visible (by adding an alpha channel to most of the texture) and then increasing the height above ground, and that worked when I was close in, but when I zoomed out it changed to a different texture which didn't have an alpha channel, and I thought I had changed the alpha on all appropriate textures.
So, any advice on how to proceed?

Has anyone been able to get the Midway Map to work? I have created other missions for other maps but just can't get midway to work.
Hey guys could you please FIX the front gunner turret on the B24 in the Gunner View by using the A20 REAR turret for B24s front gunner?
I have been trying - without success - to create a new Default skin for the F4U-1 Corsair. I have down loaded VP's Skin Mod. I have also been successful in changing the order and name of the F4U-1.
" First, make sure, that in conf.ini parameter "ClearCache" is set to "0",
them launch the game and run QMB with the choosen skin.
For a summer Bf-109F4 skin you need the following files,
which will be automatically generated once you viewed a skin in the QMB, on the arming screen:
-skin1o.tga
-skin1p.tga
-skin1q.tga
-skin1o.tgb (these are different resolutions of the same skin, being switched when view distance is changed)
The location of generated files will be C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Cache\Bf-109F-4\
You must copy these files to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\files\3do\plane\bf-109f-4\summer\ ...."
Here are some of my problems;
I cannot find the line "ClearCache=0" anywhere in my conf.ini file.
My Cahce folder in Paint Schemes is completely empty.
I am using sound mod 9.2 and I have the latest wrapper.dll installed. What am I missing here :?:
Modders can someone tell me how i can mod my game too? caz i see noone is going to do the german live jaket mod and i want it realy bad ^_^
Having been impressed by Bob2's excellent aircraft to aircraft tracer/smoke trails, it made me realise how unrealistic IL2's ground to air shell smoke trails are. In real wartime footage, you see flak bursts but no smoke trails from the shells as they soar upwards and it occurred to me that these trails in IL2, aside from being unrealistic, must also be framerate hoggers too.
Would it not therefore make sense to eliminate these and just leave the shellbursts instead?
