Greetings All,
Here is a pack of four historically accurate Yak-1 skins, with screenshot. All feature colouration and national markings suitable for the 1941 - early 1942 time frame, which matches the model of Yak-1 presented in the game.
There are two examples of the first pattern using the Soviet aviation paints AII (as in "A-roman-numeral-2") Green / AII Dark Green over AII Blue, and AII Green/AII Black/AII Blue.
The second pattern example is in AII Green/AII Black/AII Blue only.
The fourth skin shows a winter application in MK-7 White lacquer (over AII Blue).
All skins feature corrected panel line and other details which are as accurate as possible given the 3D model as available in IL2. The template is my own.

I have a modified sound_mod 0.91 installed: 0.91 is the only version where the guns are loud enough for my taste, but I had to I replace some files with their 0.90 and 0.93 counterparts in order to partially fix the bug that makes guns firing from far away sound like they're right behind me (I replaced all the guns sounds files with an x or an i at the end of the filename, before the extension. It did ...something, but it's far from perfect. More details if someone requests them)
The problem: naval guns make no sounds at all. That 's completely wrong! With my modified 0.91 sound mod, I can hear planes shooting at each other but ships firing much bigger guns at the same distance make no sounds at all.
I suspect I'm missing some files in the /files/samples directory, or some entries in the filelist (I did install the new wrapper ... and maybe that's the problem, I don't know)
The question: Anyone knows what the ships' guns sounds are called? (so I can check if I have them)
if I have the files, what could be preventing the game from playing them? or from playing them at the right volume setting?
And if naval guns are silent because the game is done that way, is there any mod that fixes that?
Anyone wants to make one?

I'll update this list every so often.
Fly_zo, any chance of making this a sticky, and restricting it only items in the title? Could members also please only add to this thread if it is a source of information they are posting thereby keeping it nice and compact. Cheers

Currently working on a project that I really could use a B-26 Marauder for. Doesn't need to be flyable (obviously a bonus though), it just has to look like a B-26.
My thinking is front-end and fuselage of a B25, tail-end of an A20 Havoc
I know a few of you guys who work the mods have the ability to work magic on custom planes, but if this was possible I would be in your debt.
Is there any chance of this gents?
Then all I'd have to do is work out how to skin it!
Cheers, SM.[/list]
this could be a good canidate for the next "frankenplane"
just use the floats from the Ju-52 or the Arado and the B6N1 Jill or B5N1 Kate for the rest
Single-engined twin-float reconnaissance seaplane. All-metal construction with fabric-covered control surfaces.
Accommodation: Crew of three in tandem enclosed cockpits.
Powerplant: One Mitsubishi Kinsei 43 fourteen-cylinder air-cooled radial rated at 1,060 hp for take-off, and 1,080 hp at 2,000 m, driving a three-blade propeller.
Armament:
One flexible rear-firing 7.7 mm Type 92 machine-gun.
One flexible rear-firing 7.7 mm Type 92 machine-gun and one flexible downward-firing 20 mm Type 99 Model 1 cannon (field modifications on late production aircraft).
External load: one 250 kg bomb, or four 60 kg bombs or depth-charges.
Does anybody know, which file is used for the engine startup sound. I would like to replace it with some good ones i found for the Corsair and B25. Just not sure which file(s) i need to replace. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work on the Mods.
Got this while trying to load the MurmanskS Map.
This is a quick three part tutorial on 1.How to change the position. 2.The name. and 3.Whether or not an aircraft is listed in the Quick Mission Builder (QMB) aircraft list.
All the nesserary files and their file structures are available in this Beta aircraft list mod here http://www.speedyshare.com/332893134.html
1. How to change the listed position.
You'll need an air.ini file located in this path MODS/planelist/com/maddox/il2/objects
If your still useing the "old" wrapper the path is Files/com/maddox/il2/objects
and com/maddox/il2/objects/air.ini would also need to be added to your filelist.txt
As it appears that some other mods have included an air.ini file, it may be prudent to run a search in your Mods or Files folder or both if your installed that way for air.ini before you start with this mod, to avoid clashes.
Open the air.ini file with a text editor, I use "EditPad" but Notepad or Wordpad will do fine. Scroll down and find the aircraft you want to move, for this little tutorial I've chosen to move "Rechkalov's P-39Q-15" available with this great mod (The link is inoperative)
Highlight and "cut" the whole line out...(may require a different technique in Notepad?)
Scroll and find the place you want to locate the aircraft, go to the end of the previous line and hit "enter" one time to give some space
Paste in the line you just cut out
Save the air.ini file and fire up IL2 to see the results. The 3 blade prop and cool default skin by defrag on a Kamikuza template are additional addons I've made myself.
Fine but the name doesn't fit so good, oh well...on to part two.
Might be cool to have a "order of battle" pack, or even map-based packs to facilitate mission building.
The new Slot map has me thinking about it. Be nice to have a set of A6M2s, A6M3s, D3As, F4U-1s etc that all match the location.
The same could be done for any map, and in fact, ahving them could mean changing the map's default skins to match...

Is it possible to modify some of the Objects in the game to give off a secondary explosion after being destroyed? At the very least, would it be possible to modify certain Objects in the game to explode more violently then others when destroyed? There has been some great work with the Objects by La Rohne as far as their DM is concerned. I was just wondering if a graphic enhancement to their destruction couldn't also be added.
An example would be the train car #1, representing it being loaded with ammunition, or #8 being full of fuel. The tramp steamer (dry cargo ship) or the oil tanker ships. I'm sure that there are many many more objects that could represent something that, when destroyed, would explode violently as opposed to destroying a camo tent or jeep.
If it could be done with real explosive effects, so much the better. But if it were only a graphic effect, that would be better than what we have now.
