Nothing special - just a little dogfight that kept me busy for a few hours

I just saw a post from 2011 when it was said that release date was mid 2012. Well, looks like that date was missed badly. Any more up to date time frames for this sim?? What are you devs shooting for??
Enjoy!

Hi Gentlemen. I've started building this huge bird, and it's likely going to take a looong time. So, I'm posting a step-by-step WIP review, hope someone may find it useful.
Now, I don't think anyone of you needs an introduction to the B-17, so let's just talk about what this kit offers. It is a 2010 release featuring a later G version (the one introducing the "chin" turret under the nose); remarkably, besides being brand new, it provides plenty of internal details and alternative parts.
The detail level is up to current standards, as you would expect from a newly engineered kit (although it isn't totally flash-free).
The decals sheet provides stencils and serials for two machines, both of them from 8th Air Force, 1st Air Division, 1st Combat Wing, 91st Bomb Group:
- DF-F "Little Miss Mischief" (324rd Bomb Squadron, Feb. 1945), portrayed in the box art;
- OR-R "Nine O' Nine" (323rd Bomb Squadron, April 1945)
Of course, like all 4-engined bomber kits, this one is not suited for absolute beginners, given the high amount of pieces (Revell rates its difficulty 5, their highest). Will this kit itself make the job easier? We'll see that!
This map covers the area from Minsk to Brest. It is based partly on aerophotos made during WWII, contains more than sixty airfields, which location was made on the basis of authentic documents of that era. The airfields are made using ZUTI's Friction mod.
The present release of the map consists of the summer and winter version. The map was not autopopulated, the main attention was paid to some landmarks such as larger towns, where many more specific objects like synagogues, cathedrals, named railway stations, some new airfields etc. were incorporated. Location of some airfields was corrected, too. The twin towers in front of Minsk railway station were removed since they were built only after 1956. Maps are considered to be finished to well flyable state, further patches might follow as required. Any volunteers capable of map making are free to do it.
It is supposed that the map could be used for 1939 to 1944 war campaigns, and to some extent, after removing most of the airfields, to 1914-1920 years.
The compatibility of the map was tested with the following versions of Il2 Sturmovik 1946:
HSFX 4.01, HSFX 5.01, SASmodact3.06, UP3RC4, DBW 1.71,and HSFX 6.01.

The readme file there involded contains all the necessary installation guide.

Hi everyone,
I use and love HSFX 6.01 and their perfect map textures, at least on the summer maps. But I think, the winter textures are a bit too less snowy when flying in areas like leningrad. Right now I use JSGME to switch those textures on and off when I change between summer ant winter maps.
Is there a away to deactivate the perfect map textures for winter maps?
The Duel: 1917
Hey all,
Here's my best movie yet, a real epic. ;D
Last one for a while, this time I promise.
Set to the music of Titanic. (1998)
Dedicated to Max_thehitman for all his awesome work.
Here's to you, mate! ;D
A lone German fighter speeds through the early morning French drizzle en-route to Peronne aerodrome, an RFC airbase near St Quentin. He narrowly misses being blown apart by a heavy British flak bombardment, and raises hell at the airfield.
The Albatros pilot is surprised by a Sopwith Camel; the duel begins.
In this way many young, head-strong pilots were consigned to the mud of Flanders.

A little "Bomb bling" ... for those that like the look of jets & the external stores they carry
This skin pack contains 16 reworked weapon types from stock bombs through to missiles, napalm & cluster bombs based off of real world examples.
In some instances I have re-skinned a weapon to represent an alternative option ... eg - the Tiny Tim is skinned to look like an Alarm missile as carried by RAF jets ... perhaps inaccurate as far as purpose ... but accurate as far as looking like it's real world counterpart
I've had this working in both my 4.09 / UP-2.01 & Modact 3.6 / Jetwar 1.2 games ... anything beyond those I'm unsure of I'm afraid.
Full details / credits are contained in the read me that comes with the pack.
