Have you see this? ; http://www.simhq.com/daily-news/dcs-wwi ... paign.html

Quote:The team over at RRG Studios has launched a Kickstarter campaign to develop a new flight simulation series DCS WWII: Europe 1944. This all new WWII combat simulation will include the P-47 Thunderbolt, Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX, Messerschmitt Bf-109K-4 as well as many other historical aircraft allowing players to reenact key historical battles from WWII.

RRG Studios will also be using a new distribution model allowing the full-featured core game will available as a free download, allowing anyone to check out the game and its features. Additional modules containing new aircraft or new gameplay areas will be available as a separate purchase.

The campaign has already raised $66,939 of their $100,000 goal with 22 days to go, ending on October 5, 2013. If they raise more than $100k additional game features will be added in all the way up to $1M.

Head on over to the kickstarter page to check out the details:

I was surprised to see Ilya Shevchenko (luthier) is behind this kickstarter ( should of guess by the name "RRG Studios" ) backed up by Oleg Maddox ( Confusedhock: ) and Igor Tishin. I must say I did find the video a little bit wired but maybe that me thinking I would never see any thing of them again after IL-2:Clod, any way what do you think?

Luthier's DCS WWII: Europe 1944 videos;

DCS WWII: Europe 1944: Kickstarter Introduction
DCS WWII: Europe 1944: Kickstarter Video 2: Flying Legends
DCS WWII: Europe 1944: Kickstarter Video 3: EDGE Terrain Engine

Just in the last hour I watched a documentary on Russia Today about how the Russians supply their bases in the Antarctic. As you might expect, they are very impressive with their initiative and ability to adapt to the conditions - summer temperatures are 40deg below zero and can go as low as -89 in winter ! I'd not considered this sort of thing before. I just assumed the Russians flew supplies in whenever the weather was good, but apparently they're very dependent on sea travel. Ships have to sometimes break ice to get there and if the ice is too thick, they simply moor on the side of sea ice and unload, resulting in what can turn out to be very long and arduous overland travel with caterpillar trucks. Add to that the unpredictability of this ice - an AN2 landed near the ship to refuel and change supplies when the ice broke off, meaning the ship had to hoist the aeroplane out of trouble there and then. All in all a fascinating insight in to what turns out to be a very hazardous enterprise.

Quote:Valve is to let Steam users share the video games with friends and family members.

The Family Sharing initiative will let a user of the Steam service share their library of games across up to 10 other devices.

Other people will be able to play the titles, store their own saved games and earn their own in-game achievements.

Valve said a small scale trial of the sharing system would start in mid-September.

By introducing the sharing facility Valve may make its service appear more attractive than that of rivals such as Gog, Desura and Electronic Art's Origin.

However, it could also impact sales if people who would otherwise have bought their own copy now decide to share someone else's.

To address this risk Valve will prevent more than one person being able to play the same purchase of a title at the same time.

Industry watchers say that if the move proves popular other online marketplaces may follow.

Not a bad idea in my opinion, but I here people are complaining not because it doesn't work but because as usual Valve / Steam haven't explain it to people.
People are sharing games thinking that they can play together, but you can't play the same games at the same time. So then some people have gone and tried to buy the game again thinking that it would get around that problem only to find that steam will not let you buy the same game twice. So there now bitching that Valve / Steam is ripping them off with this game-sharing.

I know this is not the first post about the missing of this plane and it sure wont be the last. But i have to ask: why this piece of history is still missing from il-2? i mean c'mon, it was the 1943 replacement of the SBD Dauntless, and it was produced in numbers of almost 7,200 so it sure was a big part of history of WW2 and pacific - and way, way bigger than the endless list of spitfires and bf-109's, or some pre- and after-war planes.

Gentlemen, Salute! It has been a longtime, I regret to inform you of some bad news. Back on April 18th of this year, my father David Babarovich passed away in his sleep. My father's IL-2 callsign was Snitchy, many of you knew him from the old AAA server. He'll be sorely missed. Causes are unknown as of now, but my father was a recovering drug addict who started to become clean once again.

Driving to and from my grandmother's house the day after I turned on one of his favorite songs, "Take it to the Limit" by the Eagles.

'So put me on a highway
And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time'

RIP Dad.

I also come bearing some information that his gained some attention to my photography/digital media work, a group of friends and I are collaborating on a WWII short film project titled "Thunder From Heaven". It is focused on the 17th Airborne Division and their partaking Operation Varsity, the last major battle on the Western front during the Second World War in March of 1945. With special thanks to my dad who got me into my area of interest, and being one of the people who talked me into doing this.

Hi!
My name is Javier Fernandez, the autor of the Nimitz and SW Europe scenery for VSF, and I'd like to show you a project I've been working for several months. Mars Expedition1 is a total conversion mod that transforms Vehicle Simulator into a Mars simulator.

I chose it beacuse it has very easy and yet poweful scenery creation tools. It covers 100% of mars surface elevation with a resolution of 128 pix/deg based on NASA's Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter data. As far as I know it is the first time you can explore freely the entire Mars in a game in first person view, driving rovers, walkin in an EVA suit and many more vehicles.

I've also included some High-resoultion areas based on Mars HIRISE data from NASA. I'll be adding more high resolution areas soon.

The mod includes a series of missions that simulates a future mission to Mars and will help you understand the features of the mod. You can also add objects and vehicles in-game to the scenery to create your own bases or situations.
It has a some limitations, due to the Earth's nature of Vehicle simulator, but they do not ruin the experience.

I've been working for nearly 9 months on it and I released it last week. It's a freeware project.

The Potosi was a five-masted steel barque built in 1895 by the German sailing ship company F. Laeisz as a trading vessel. As its shipping route was between Germany and Chile, it was designed to be capable of withstanding the rough weather encountered around Cape Horn.
